Microsoft Defender-Underdog amongst Giants
What do you like best?
It comes as a part of Windows 10 Licensing. This makes it self-implementing of sorts without the involvement of IT personnel. As it is a part of the operating system, there are no issues with conflicts which was quite common with the tools we were using earlier. The upgrade is also tied with windows update which makes managing updates very easy too. Huge licensing costs saved as it is basically tied to the machine and retires only when the machine retires.
What do you dislike?
The tool has all basic needs that suit our requirement, but a few very advanced analytic tools are not present. The UI can be better.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It can be a great tool if your organization is primarily based on windows operating system. The tool does work very well and is very capable to protect our resources, but may be some advanced tools, which are very specialized, are not present.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
The tool has replaced our antivirus solution we were using previously. It works in the same fashion as the earlier antivirus, giving the same functionality but with significantly reduced cost and overheads of managing the antivirus servers. We have realized both monetary and management benefits from the solution.
