Excellent geocoding service
What do you like best?
I've been using LocationIQ for nearly one year in support of both mobile and web applications requiring forward and reverse geocoding services. The API was very straightforward to integrate with and has performed extremely well ever since. Response time and query result quality are excellent.
We have been using the autocomplete API end point to provide superior user experience for our customers. We have been able to address search result concerns from multiple customers by switching traffic to LocationIQ.
The terms of use are clearly set out and very reasonable.
I expect to keep growing our request volume based on the experience so far.
What do you dislike?
I would prefer a true usage based pricing scheme - the jumps between plan price levels are large, especially in comparison to other services that are part of our technology stack.
We've seen a slight uptick in 5xx responses to API calls in recent weeks - nothing problematic, yet, but it would be nice to a return to the pretty much error free traffic we'd seen previously.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We use LocationIQ for forward, reverse and autocomplete geocoding API queries via mobile and web. Our search result quality has improved significantly since switching to LocationIQ from a competing service.
The ease of integration and clarity of documentation has been a real benefit compared with other services we have evaluated. Performance is also great out of the box, without the need to experiment with request formats and parameters to tune things appropriately.
