Best Embedded Operational Reporting Platform on the Market
What do you like best?
As a home care software provider, it is extremely important to provide our users with strong day-to-day operational reports. This includes clinical, scheduling, invoicing and financial aspects.
We evaluated several solutions and we found JReport to be the best operational reporting solution on the market. It allowed us to seamlessly create a reporting platform that allows our developers and customers develop reports using the same platform. The ability to embed JReport directly into our application made it the clear winner.
What do you dislike?
JReport has reporting concept called Business Views which allows for user friendly views and advanced data transformations including authorization. Business Views don't have all the same supports as their older generic views reporting concepts. The supports are improving with every release.
Also, JReport has two reporting models (page reports and web reports). Web Reports are the more user friendly and accessible but don't have the same feature set as Page reports. Again, the supports are improving with every release.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If operational reporting (client listings, invoices, etc.) is the primary reason for your reporting framework search, JReport is way ahead of the competition. If discovery based analytics reporting (dashboards, cubes, etc), JReport is competitive when compared to the competition.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We wanted an embedded browser based solution and we had four core use cases. JReport checked all the boxes.
1. Operational Reports developed internally by our developers
2. Operational Reports developed externally by our customers
3. Dashboards developed internally by our developers
4. Dashboards developed externally by our customers
In the past, we have used a number of products to solve each of these use cases so it was a huge benefit to have a single reporting platform that did them all.
