Flipgrid

What do you like best?

I love everything about Flipgrid! I have used it for two years now. Last year, I used it for practice speeches, but this year I use it for almost all of my speeches. Since most of my students are virtual and are asynchronous, they aren't in class to give live speeches. Instead, they record their speech and presentation and submit it on Flipgrid. They are able to reply to each other and interact with each other whether they are in person or they are virtual. I really enjoy seeing the tally of the total hours of engagements that each Flipgrid topic has totaled. It helps me know that even though some are virtual and asynchronous, they are still engaging in the learning. I think it is very user-friendly for everyone-teachers and students.

What do you dislike?

There isn't anything that I disliked about Flipgrid. The only thing that ever bothers me is if I accidentally click on the student link instead of the teacher link. If I click the student link, I cannot open the page. There isn't really anything else that I like about Flipgrid. It is very user-friendly!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you aren't already using Flipgrid, start using it! It can bring so many projects to life!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am able to have speeches again! I was so nervous about how to teach Oral Communications without having speeches. Flipgrid helped me solve that problem and made giving a virtual speech easy while giving it a "live" feeling for the students. I will continue to use it as we keep moving forward with virtual learning. I am excited to start using it in my other classes. One of the biggest benefits that I have realized is that it shows virtual students that they can still be involved with the in-person scholars.
