Advanced user of FactoryTalk LinxIt is very handy for showing all connected devices on your network. As long as your communication driver is setup it should automatically recognize anything attached to the network. The software comes with either Studio 5000, Studio or Micrologix suite softwares.
It is a little harder to set up legacy devices with this. It isn't the most user friendly. It takes a long time to start up sometimes, freezes often. If you don't have RSLinx open and you try to connect directly from Micrologix, it will freeze for a while. This only happens on the first time you try to connect to anything.
RSlinx helps you locate any unconfigured devices on your network. It is very handy if your controller has a different IP address and you are trying to figure out where it is.
