Advanced user of DiskStationMy favorite trick is to get a Synology Diskstation and buy them in pairs. Put them in Physically different places and have them sync. You can use the Disktation CloudSync tools or you can even just use basic Rsync which is nice so you can sync with other systems as well.
I also like how easy it is to do things like spin up a quick plex server. You can also spin up lots of other built-in servers/containers. It's nice and easy and makes me look like a genius to my clients.
I also like how configurable they are. You can run multi-el drives, in multiple RAID configurations, as well as connect drives from outside sources. You can upgrade the RAM for better performance, and it supports Multiple NICs so you can get max speed out of the box as well.
Well, they update a LOT. Which I guess is actually a great thing for security. But sometimes they move the features around during updates and I have to find the setting in the new place.
I've used them many times, Over 100 different clients, for local file storage and mirror backups.
I've also used this as small Plex serves to hold local content and stream out to TVs on campus.
