User in Legal Services
Advanced user of Closing FoldersClosing Folders had a fantastic user interface - it's user friendly and modern. The modern part isn't something I'm normally very interested in - work software is just there to serve a purpose. But when I am organizing closing documents or compiling a closing book on a Friday night, a nice, clean interface certainly helps.
One thing that would definitely improve the functionality for me is if there was the ability to stamp dates onto documents. Most of the time we leave our legal documents undated until closing, and then an assistant fills that in. Under the current version of closing folders we compile the final PDFs and then an assistant downloads them, loads them in Adobe Pro and inserts the dates. But it seems like the type of thing you should be able to do directly in Closing Folders.
I was skeptical when our firm first rolled it out, but once I started using it I was impressed. So my advice would be to try it in real world transactions when you demo it.
I use Closing Folders to solve two problems:
The main reason I started using Closing Folders is that I found it results in it being significantly easier to compile a closing book at the end of a transaction - everything is already there, and after just some final edits the closing book is complete. The signatures get attached to Word versions of the documents, so the final documents look very clean and are searchable. It also means I can do the closing book from the comfort of my basement on a Friday night when I might only want to do some "easier" work.
Second, the software is a great way of keeping track of the most current version of a closing document and stripping out signature pages for client execution.
Plus, through all of this, I save on printing!
