Emerging Platform For Decentralized Apps, But Needs a Bit More Work!
What do you like best?
Blockstack has the best customer support in the blockchain space, hands down. They have a Slack channel, use Twitter actively and respond to emails overnight whenever my team and I have questions. They are providing a clear path to distribution for agencies and firms looking to develop decentralized apps as well as a clear path to monetization for some apps as an alternative to industry leaders like Apple and Google.
What do you dislike?
I dislike that, for one, they require so much documentation from our team to get up-and-running. We had to submit our identification, tax forms, licenses, articles of organization from our domestic state as well as some other required documents. This severely impacted the time we would've used to finish up development for our apps that already exist on the Blockstack Browser ecosystem.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend trying out Blockstack for your team and seeing if it suits your needs. It's early-stage, so it's not for everyone, but it can be an awesome alternative to the industry bemoths like the App Store or Play Store for releasing applications with a clear path to monetization, especially for web agencies and firms.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Blockstack has not yet realized their dreams of consumer demand or adaptation. Chances are, if you're publishing an app with Blockstack it's a strictly business audience demographic you're appealing to. But for us at Blyn, that was perfect!
We wanted to solve the problem of creating decentralized workplace tools for enterprise and small businesses through software-as-a-service. We solved the age-old problem of authentication and authorization for saaS apps by using Blockstack's SSO solution. We realize this has saved us HOURS of overhead in development and production publication. We look forward to using Blockstack even more in the future.
