What do you like best?
The Elemental conductor is a great tool for managing high volume file based transcodes in a farm environment without sacrificing quality. The user interface is very intuitive and makes setting up automated workflows incredibly simple. The prioritization logic combined with processing speed and power really make the Elemental ideal to handle large orders with competing prioritization. Creating 4K HEVC files from ProRes sources is actually very quick and great quality.
What do you dislike?
The default user presets are more geared towards mobile delivery and need work to customize industry standard file based files. This is pretty standard for all industry encoders, but the quality of the outbound transcodes can be dramatically improved with customized profiles. A lot of important settings (such as CC muxing, logo insertion) are hidden in sub menus when creating new profiles. Currently the Elemental does not support Dolby Vision or 4K IMF files which limits it's otherwise good 4K processing abilities.
