Elastic Load Balancing automatically distributes incoming application traffic across multiple targets, such as Amazon EC2 instances, containers, and IP addresses. It can handle the varying load of your application traffic in a single Availability Zone or across multiple Availability Zones. Elastic Load Balancing offers three types of load balancers that all feature the high availability, automatic scaling, and robust security necessary to make your applications fault tolerant.

What do you like best?

AWS provides technical support free of charge 24/7 for the services it provides. This has helped us derive more benefit from Elastic Load Balancing. Additionally, it has taken a lot of the pressure off of our DevOps team during the coronavirus pandemic with the transition to everything remote. You can also use a combination

What do you dislike?

There isn't much to dislike the product is perfect for the function that it does for the company. There are no main downsides to the product either.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Introduce it now. It's very cheap and takes a lot of pressure off the DevOps team. Investment in a proprietary load balancing software is much less recommended, because AWS ELB is constantly being managed by the AWS team. This means no hassle at work attempting to diagnose ELB issues, since AWS can take care of all of that for you.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We can readily check the status of all of our registered targets and route traffic to only healthy targets as well. This helped us run diagnostics on our EC2 instances that were determined to be unhealthy. It also, as the name suggests, balances the traffic we've been receiving to prevent delays or buildups in the network.

Additionally with the coronavirus pandemic and the transition to remote work, AWS ELB has saved us from heavy traffic issues and has allowed us to access our applications without a second thought.
