SEO basically enables crawling to your website which allows search engines like google and yahoo and bing find your website. this tool gets integrated to your website rather than an API so it gives you the higher control over your content and search flow.
It's kind of old and its not that great for well built responsive websites that are very powerful and are driver by javascript and not a standalone application. Its best for ISS and .NET driven applications and websites but most modern websites are written in HTML, CSS, Javascript, and bootstrap. which makes its uses even narrower to just windows machines and servers.
Use Microsoft ISS server for better reliability and performance.
The major problem solving is by using it in windows machines and servers and websites which run on them so that they can use the full potential of the optimization it creates for the end-user to get redirected to the website.
