Advanced user of Mail Attachment Downloader PRO ServerMail Attachment Downloaded from GearMage saves a lot of manual work, saves us from writing email API code, saves us from writing complicated scripts.
It was relatively easy to download and install.
The configuration settings to define the email account to connect to were no more complicated than any other email account specifications.
The configuration settings to define what attachments to download allowed for a large number of variations and multiple filters to fine tune which email attachments to download.
It is possible to have an unlimited number of configurations so that any number of different attachments could be downloaded.
It runs as a service, so that no manual action is needed and no manual monitoring of the incoming email is required.
After downloading the attachment was automatically converted from Excel to text.
If necessary it could trigger the execution of other scripts after the file is downloaded.
We have not yet tested the ability of other users to maintain the configuration settings after they have been created. We would like the IT team to be able to modify or add new configurations when necessary.
My guess is that once you acquire this product, you will think of more ways to use it. So is so much that could be done with automated processing of email attachments.
Prior to using GearMage's Mail Attachment Downloader Pro Server, we had written our own process that used the Outlook API to find the email and extract the attachment. We then had a process that converted the Excel file to tab-separated text. Recently Microsoft changed the Outlook API so that our process no longer worked.
This one tool does everything that our old tools would do.
It downloads the attachment AND it also converts the Excel file to tab-separated text.
In addition it can be easily configured to automatically process other emails and attachments whenever required.
