What do you like best?
Talend MDM is a best in breed MDM tool for any modern organization. Talend has taken a different approach to MDM than other vendors because Talend MDM is first and foremost and ETL tool which shares most of the same features of Talend Integration Suite, Talend Big Data Edition, Talend ESB, and others
The MDM features shine where users can create custom data remediation and approval workflows where the application can send data records to data stewards to be addressed. And the entire pipeline can be conditional based on whatever criteria or formula we would like to use to evaluate the completeness or accuracy of a data record
What do you dislike?
Talend desktop is built the Eclipse IDE, which is showing its age. Also, integration between Talend Server and remote Git servers could be improved. Overall I wouldn't ding the platform for these -- they are just minor gripes
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As with any data platform or tool, perform a thorough evaluation and complete a proof of concept before making any final decisions
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Talend MDM allows us to make sure we have clean, high-quality data going into our Data Warehouse. The ability to intercept and fix bad data before it enters the warehouse is a game changer.
Unfortunately, most large organizations still have yet to implement and use an MDM tool enterprise-wide.
