Advanced user of Elastic CloudWe liked how easy it was to set up with little configuration. Everything seemed to work fine. The onboarding was smooth, and we were able to get up running reasonably quickly. I think the most significant advantage over AWS is that it's simpler, pricing is transparent, and seems like a high, stable, and modern offering. We liked the app search because it gave us incredible search capabilities very quickly.
All of a sudden, we had stability issues with app search; it went down. We contacted support asked for help. They didn't help, but we figured out what was wrong and fixed it ourselves. Three weeks later, instance goes down, self bricks, and we are unable to neither create a new instance of app search. Neither we can fix the current one. We message elastic search support, and they tell us to pay them to figure out why their cloud solution bricked itself. It made us regret going with the elastic cloud as they bricked our production deployment, did not support us and caused us the loss of reputation with our customers as obviously they do not care about smaller customers.
I think if you are a large customer 30k$ per year plus and pay for their support, you will at least get an answer once your instance self bricks and you are unable to fix anything. If you are a smaller company, stay clear from this.
We were able to get up and running with a very advanced search fairly quickly and while it was working it was great.
