Advanced user of Red Hat Gluster Server (formerly Storage Server)I love the fact that this is open source software, and that it's an excellent implementation of distributed storage. It hooks nicely with technologies such as Kubernetes and OpenShift to realize an entire cluster on top of a virtual & scalable network filesystem.
The documentation is literally awful. It is terrible for people who are approaching this while being entirely new to the field, or even seasoned developers; the documentation assumes you have a solid understanding of networks and telecommunications, which isn't always accurate for everyone who may need to use Gluster.
I recommend you give it a try; open source software is always a plus, and once you get it up and running, it's entirely reliable and durable as a storage system.
We use it as a storage system for a network of Kubernetes & OpenShift containers.
