Advanced user of Active Enterprise Data WarehouseTeradata is super fast when it comes to accessing data. It is scalable linearly so adding hardware is relatively easy. It does parallel processing and data is stored in different amps which enables fast reads. It also has a shared-nothing architecture and is highly fault tolerant. It Supports ETL efficiently and has jdbc and odbc connections to leverage data transfer from different platforms.
It's not very beneficial for small OLTP databases. And if the primary index is not defined properly then it's much slower to access the data. The licensing is super expensive hence not suitable for smaller enterprises. It is not open source either.
This is a great product if you are looking for a managed solution.
