Marathon

What do you like best?

Most imporatand things: stability, reliability and great UI. Marathon is a fundametal building block of at least two leading orchestration solution: Messos and DC/OS. It run as active/passive cluster with leader ellection to guarantee high availability. It has build in constraints system that allows you to easilly plan where and how your containers will run. There's no problem with persisten storrage as well. It has modern, clear and powerrfull UI. In addition there are at least two solutions for application discovery: marrathon-lb and mesos-dns. You can run it as stand aloneplatform with Mesos or use it as part od DC/OS (which is my prefered way of using it)...

What do you dislike?

As stand alone solution it requires a lot of initial configuration. I woud recomend to use it as a part of DC/OS orchestration solution. You can still access original marathon UI but it's easier to install and maintain.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you want to run container orchestration system you basically have two option: kubernetes or DC/OS with marathon. I personally chose DC/OS with marathon and it works for me really well for last 2,5h year.
