The GMS Accounting and Financial Management System is not a traditional commercial accounting or government fund accounting package adapted for non-profit use. Our software is designed, from the ground up, to meet the highly specialized requirements of non-profit and public organizations accounting for contracts and grants or by program activity.

GMS Accounting and Financial Management/Reporting System Reviews

This company's software has more bugs than a bee hive about to swarm on a goldenrod flow.

What do you like best?

The only thing that I like about it is that before they had a major update that made it so unstable I integrated a lot of other applications with it. If we were to change now I would have to redo all of that work.

What do you dislike?

Their support/customer service. Here is a message that the president of their company sent me. This was in response to a simple question I had asked their support team. I might add I was not making modifications to their software. I was trying to write a script that would automatically add program codes in the database for the next year at the end of a fiscal year.

Mr Bosworth,

A service order has to come my attention that you are considering making modifications to the GMS Accounting Software. Please be aware that we strongly recommend against this. One very important item is the consistency of the software script and table structure across our entire client base. That assures us that as we release revisions they will be handled in the same manner for all clients.

There would also be no audit trail in our developer logs for any changes an outside party makes to our software.

As we strongly suggest that you not modify our software, should you proceed you do so at your own risk and if we receive a subsequent service call that is in any way related to a modification to the software your organization has done your unlimited service contract with GMS will not cover our staff's time and you will be billed accordingly at our prevailing rate.

If, however, there is anything else we can do to assist in trying to keep your date creating organized without making software modifications, please let us know. We'd be happy to have some conversations.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Donald Cassady

I had a similar issue when we wanted to print the MICR numbers on the bottom of checks so that we could print our own checks.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would recommend you use something else. We are using it because we have used it forever and people don't want to change. I find it very interesting that the president of the company understands that time is money when it is his time but he doesn't think that time is money when it is our time.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's an accounting system. It does what every other accounting system does. Only it crashes all the time. They started using .NET about a year ago and ever since then it has all sorts of connection issues.
