Quality Core Benefits Administration Platform

What do you like best?

Empyrean specializes in core benefits administration services and they do it well. The client service team is excellent and very responsive. I feel like they are a vendor that partners well with us and really listens to our concerns and implements changes where possible.

What do you dislike?

They currently outsource COBRA and direct bill administration. This can sometimes cause challenges with processing data and requires extra coordination between the two different vendors. Some of the employer reporting tools and dashboards could be updated so that certain bits of real time data is available to employers with ease at their fingertips.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If your firm is looking for a solid benefits administration platform with a supportive team that is competent and responsive I believe you should give Empyrean a shot. While the platform does have decision model capabilities, it could use some work to incorporate plan cost in their algorithm. They could also improve HSA functionality to allow employees to front load accounts and/or enter in the amount of their pay check deduction vs. the annual election amount. What I like most is the consistency of the platform and the partnership with the service team.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have outsourced our core benefits administration services to Empyrean. Which results in a savings associated with not having to hire extra employees, manage call center staff while insuring we remain compliant
